A Facebook lead is worth the most in the first few minutes, while they still remember your ad. If you follow up by email with AWeber, that lead should be on your list right away, with your welcome series on its way, not sitting in Facebook's Leads Center until someone exports a CSV.
This guide shows how to connect Facebook lead ads to AWeber step by step, in about five minutes, with no CSV uploads and no Zapier. Every lead joins the AWeber list you choose, with your tags applied, seconds after the form is submitted.
Facebook keeps instant-form leads in Leads Center, so you need a connector to send them to AWeber. In LeadSender: connect Facebook, choose Facebook Leads to AWeber, pick your Page and form, log in to AWeber and click Allow access, pick a list and tags, then turn it on. Every new lead joins your AWeber list within seconds.
Before you start
- Any AWeber plan works, Free included. There's no API key to find: you log in with your normal AWeber account.
- Your form needs an email question. AWeber identifies every subscriber by email, so leads without one can't be added.
- Check your list's confirmed opt-in. If it's on for integrations, AWeber emails each new lead a confirmation link first. More on that below.

Connect AWeber
Click Connect next to AWeber.
Click ConnectAWeber opens its sign-in page for LeadSender Lead Delivery and lists what it can do: add subscribers to your lists and read your lists, custom fields and tags. Log in with your AWeber account and click Allow access.
Click Allow accessPick a list and tags
Choose the AWeber list new subscribers join. Then add tags: pick ones you already use, or type a new name and click Create tag. Tags are added to every subscriber this integration creates or updates, so they can start an AWeber campaign. If you have more than one AWeber account, pick it under Send leads to first.
Your listTags to applyMatch your fields, test and turn on
In Match your fields, name and email are matched for you, and your list's custom fields are listed too. Check that Email is matched. Then click Send a test lead. Need a fresh lead to test with? Create one with our free Meta Lead Ads Testing Tool.
Email is requiredThe test shows exactly what reached AWeber:

Open Subscribers in AWeber and the test lead is already at the top, added via API. When it looks right, click Turn on. From then on every new lead from that form, on Facebook or Instagram, joins your AWeber list within seconds.
Your Facebook leadWhy a new lead shows as Pending in AWeber
Pending means AWeber sent the lead a confirmation email, because your list has confirmed opt-in turned on for subscribers added through integrations. AWeber only emails them your messages once they click the link, and they change to Subscribed. Here is the test lead, still Pending, with its tag already applied:
Not confirmed yetYour tagTo add Facebook leads as Subscribed straight away, go to List Options, List Settings, then the Confirmation Message tab, and turn off confirmation for Subscribers added via API. AWeber only allows this on a paid plan, and it doesn't change leads that are already Pending: they still need to click the link. If you keep it on, tell people on your form's thank-you screen that a confirmation email is on its way, so more of them click it.
Which fields reach AWeber
| AWeber field | What happens |
|---|---|
| Filled from the form. Required, and how a repeat lead is matched | |
| Name | Filled from the form's full name, or any question you match to it |
| Tags | The tags you picked, on every new or updated subscriber. AWeber shows them in lowercase |
| List | The list you picked. Your follow-up series on that list starts as usual |
| Your custom fields | Any of your list's custom fields, such as phone, matched to any question on your form |
In AWeber, create a campaign that starts when a tag is applied, and use the tag from your integration, such as fb leads. Use a different tag per form or offer, and each lead gets the follow-up that matches the ad they answered.
LeadSender vs Zapier vs CSV imports
| LeadSender | Zapier | CSV import | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | From $9.99/mo | From $29.99/mo (Facebook Lead Ads is a premium app) | Free |
| Speed | ✓ Seconds | Depends on plan | ✗ Whenever you remember |
| Setup | ✓ About 5 minutes, guided | ⚠ Build and test a Zap | ⚠ Every time, by hand |
| Tags and custom fields | ✓ Listed live from AWeber | ⚠ Map in each Zap | ⚠ Match columns on every import |
| Repeat leads | ✓ Same subscriber updated | ⚠ Extra search step | ⚠ Skipped or merged by hand |
| Failed leads | ✓ Reason and resend in Run history | Zap history | None |
Short version: CSV imports are fine for a one-off list, but a lead imported tomorrow has already gone cold, and your welcome email lands a day late. Zapier works if you already pay for a premium Zapier plan. LeadSender is the simplest way to get every Facebook lead onto your AWeber list, tagged, the moment it comes in. When a Facebook lead doesn't show up in AWeber
- The lead is there but Pending: AWeber is waiting for them to confirm. See Why a new lead shows as Pending.
- “Map a field to Email”: AWeber needs an email for every subscriber. Match your form's email question to Email.
- The lead updated instead of appearing as new: that email was already on the list, so the subscriber was updated. Search Subscribers by their email.
- A custom field or tag is missing: click Refresh fields next to Change account after adding it in AWeber.
- Nothing at all: check the integration is turned on, then send a test lead and read the result. Every attempt is listed in Run history.
